Liana has been practicing Pilates since 1998. Her mom, also an avid Pilates lover, was the first to introduce her to this form of movement. Liana’s background is in counseling but as her love for Pilates grew, she left her job as a psychotherapist to become a Level 1 and Level 2 STOTT PILATES® certified instructor in Mat, Reformer, Cadillac, Chair, and Barrels. Liana has studied under Chau Pham-Kid, STOTT PILATES® Fully Certified Instructor Trainer, Madeline Black, founder of ITT® Pilates, and Tom Myers, author of Anatomy Trains. She is also CPR and AED Certified.
Passionate about working with clients who have varying needs, Liana assesses individuals’ movement patterns to customize workouts that achieve balance, pain reduction, and lean, strong muscles. She also specializes in targeting and toning difficult areas, meeting weight loss goals, and training for specific sports and events. She has successfully helped clients with chronic pain and injuries including knee, SI joint, lower back, rotator cuff, neck, and plantar fasciitis. Quick to spot the growing trend of Stand Up Paddle Boards, Liana pioneered Austin’s first “Paddle Pilates” program. She also teaches in some of Austin’s busiest corporations, offers free classes around town, and teaches a Pilates program in schools she specifically developed for children. In 2011, this passion was rewarded and Mauro Pilates was voted “Best Pilates in 2011″ by Austin Fit Magazine. In 2012 she was voted top 3 “Best Pilates Instructor” and Mauro Pilates was voted top 3 “Best Pilates” by Austin Fit Magazine. She has also been featured in Peter Bronski’s The Gluten Free Edge.
Combining multiple techniques with an enthusiasm for fitness, Liana is committed to sharing her joy of Pilates. Liana has discovered her passion in Pilates and daily strives to bring it to more people in ways that are accessible, unique, and fun.
In Liana’s spare time, she volunteers with Texas Advocacy Project, a non-profit that among many things provides FREE legal assistance to victims of stalking, domestic violence, and sexual assault. Liana sits on the Texas Advocacy Project’s Chair on the Auction Committee for their annual Black and White Ball Fundraiser and also founded and hosts an annual fundraiser every February called Share the Love – all proceeds go to Texas Advocacy Project.
