I’m excited to share that I reached the goal I shared in a previous post, My Running Journey: I ran the entire Turkey Trot! The Austin Turkey Trot is a 5-mile course that’s primarily flat with a few little hills in the first couple of miles. It’s an annual tradition for my sister and me to run it together and I’ve honestly never been so excited to complete the course. Because of what I shared in my previous post, it really does feel like quite an accomplishment.
As my sister and I were running yesterday I excitedly shared with her that the many years of strength training (Pilates and light resistance/high reps) have prepared me for where I am now – getting healthier and stronger and able to run. It’s an amazing feeling being able to run consistently and feel good. I’m loving it and decided yesterday to set my next goal: to run the Austin 1/2-marathon in February.
I will listen to my body and if my body tells me no, I won’t do it. But for today I will find a training program and start with it. Stay tuned for running tips, recovery tips, and the process of getting to my ultimate goal: running a marathon.
